Measures have been taken to export litchis from Dinajpur to a number of countries, including France–a development that stakeholders hope will massively benefit local farmers alongside boosting the country's export earnings. Stating that a whopping 72% people of Dinajpur are dependent on agriculture, he said: “Rice, litchis, mangoes and maize grow aplenty in the district. It may be recalled that in March, Nuruzzaman Miah, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), stated that the government had already decided to export Dinajpur litchis to western countries. Ashraful Islam, assistant director of the DAE, said the China-3 litchi yield was not very good due to bad weather and natural calamities last year. Therefore, special attention was given to China-3 litchi orchards this time around, Ashraful maintained.
