A pair of white-handed gibbons at Oakland Zoo are the proud parents of a new baby. Zookeepers say the baby was born over the weekend to mother Mei and father Rainier. They say that Mei, a first-time mom, is demonstrating excellent material care. Gibbons mate for life and Mei and Rainier have been a couple since being introduced at the zoo in 2019. White-handed gibbons are native to tropical rainforests in southern and Southeast Asia.
