Dhaula Kuan gang rape: HC upholds sentence

more-inThe Delhi High Court has upheld the life imprisonment awarded to five convicts in the 2010 Dhaula Kuan gang-rape case in which a 30-year-old BPO woman executive from the Northeast was raped by five men inside a moving vehicle. ‘Testimony reliable’“In our considered view, the testimony of the prosecutrix [victim] is natural, reliable, credible and trustworthy, free from any kind of glitches,” the Bench observed. “It has been established beyond reasonable doubt that all the appellants [convicts] kidnapped the prosecutrix on the fateful night of 23/24 November, 2010, and then committed rape upon her in the vehicle,” the Bench said. The victim and her friend, both BPO employees, on that night were dropped by their office cab at Moti Bagh. The victim was abducted by the five men at about 1.10-1.15 a.m. in a pickup vehicle, while she and her friend were walking to their home.
