Cuepacs: Civil servants in good hands under Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) is confident that the new government under the leadership of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad will look after the welfare of the civil servants who are the backbone of the country’s administration. Its president Datuk Azih Muda said civil servants must give the new government time and space to perform its duties and make the best decisions for the nation. All civil servants must go back to focusing on their core duties and service to the people, and cast aside their political sentiments,” he told reporters after chairing a special meeting of the Cuepacs secretariat at Wisma Cuepacs. Yesterday, Dr Mahathir had given the assurance that the government would not reduce the size of the civil service even though the number of ministries would be downsized. Azih also said that he had yet to receive reports of contract staff in the civil service being dismissed.
