Considering the situation in Bangladesh, the chief justice and the judges of the Appellate Division took the decision after a meeting in this regard, said a circular signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Md Ali Akbar on Saturday. The circular also states, one or more than one magistrate will be on duty in every chief judicial magistrate court or chief metropolitan magistrate court, to attend to urgent cases. Another circular issued by the Supreme Court extended the period of bail and injunction on case proceedings for two more weeks till the reopening of the courts on April 26. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the Supreme Court on March 24 had declared public holiday, later it extended the holidays in two stages corresponding to the extension of general holidays by the government.
