Following nationwide protests, the education ministry dissolved the school’s managing committee and reinstated Shyamal Kanti. The judge also dismissed two other cases over alleged blasphemy and beating up of a student, who himself brought the allegation. In the other case, Shyamal Kanti, the headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School, is charged with taking bribes from teachers, promising them MPO (Monthly Payment Order) facilities. Shyamal Kanti became a household name after a video of Jatiya Party MP Salim Osman making him do sit-ups holding his ears on flimsy grounds of blasphemy went viral in May. Judicial Magistrate Saiduzzaman Sharif on Saturday ordered police to file the investigation report on Sep 4, an official of court police told bdnews24.com.
