TEMERLOH: The High Court here dismissed a suit by 555 settlers against Felda and Felda Palm Industries on the grounds that their allegations of fraud in the sale of palm oil fruits were baseless. The defendants' lawyer, Datuk Wira Mohd Hafarizam Harun, applied for RM1.76mil in total costs, saying the case took 17 trial days since 2015 to complete. The plaintiffs’ lawyer, Nadzratun Naim Hammad Azizi, proposed RM405,500 in costs, saying that the defendants’ claim was excessive. Justice Tuan Hassan ordered the settles to pay RM405,500 in total costs to the defendants. The 173 settlers who had withdrawn from the suit were ordered to pay RM500 each, while the 319 who did not withdraw were ordered to pay RM1,000 each.
