Dublin city council has spent nearly €1.5m on the project so far, including almost €685,000 this year. Costs of the €10-million initiative are also set to rise because the council has decided to carry out further studies on traffic management before revising the planning application next year. The council is also planning to make College Green more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists, which has led to concerns that this would provoke a knock-on effect. In October, An Bord Pleanála rejected the council’s plans for the new plaza, worried that diverting traffic from College Green would affect other parts of the city…
