A meeting, chaired by SCC Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury, took the decision on Friday, considering the health risk of the city people amid the coronavirus crisis. The move came as the number of the Covid-19 patients in the district have been increasing day by day, according to local businessmen. The businessmen also urged the city Mayor not to allow reopening shops on footpaths in order to avoid crowds which would further accelerate coronavirus transmission. Earlier on Thursday, Noyasarak Businessmen Samity in the city also decided to keep their business shut until Eid.
