The results of key drug trials out next month could see the lockdown fully lifted by mid-summer, leading doctors believe. It comes as the Chelsea and Westminster team last night announced a 450-person coronavirus study of flu drug favipiravir and antimalarial hydroxychloroquine. This would see the lockdown lifted far quicker than Government advisers envisage. Further rules could be lifted following drug trial results in early June, with a full end to the lockdown by mid-summer. In the long term we need a vaccine, we need drugs for early disease, we need drugs for late disease, we need the whole gamut.'
