The Joint Parliamentary Select Committee on the IEBC was headed for a major deadlock last evening after Cord changed its position on constitutional amendments. But this changed yesterday. Jubilee and Cord had on Monday agreed, by consensus, that there should be no amendments to the constitution. Last week, the IEBC commissioners agreed to exit office with handsome send off packages. Cord’s position now is that the committee keeps the door open for constitutional amendments that “may be necessary to conduct a free and fair election as long as the 2017 date is not changed”.
