Cord leaders on Monday demanded the arrest of Deputy President William Ruto for leading a "persistent hate speech campaign against the opposition leaders". Raila regretted that the cost of living has skyrocketed due to rampant corruption propagated by the ruling coalition at the expense of tax payers. "We want an explanation of what "kukaranga mtu" (to fry someone) means if it is not hate speech. "Ruto is the one using Eurobond money to buy people with a purpose of destabilising the opposition," he said. Suna East MP Junet Mohamed claimed that Ruto and interior CS Joseph Nkaissery masterminded their arrest and detention .
