Cook beats Sachin: England captain becomes youngest cricketer to score 10,000 Test runs

England captain Alastair Cook became the youngest cricketer to reach 10,000 test runs on the fourth day of the second test against Sri Lanka in Durham on Monday. Cook is also the first English batsman to score 10,000 Test runs and 12th in the history to achieve that feat. Aged 31 years, five months and five days, he achieved the landmark by reaching five on the fourth day. He beat India legend Sachin Tendulkar's record of 31 years, 10 months and 20 days, which had stood since 2005. He brought up the milestone with a leg-side clip for four off Nuwan Pradeep and saluted the England balcony.
