Hooda, a former Chief Minister, had colluded with the BJP to get 14 Congress votes declared invalid. The votes of 14 Congress MLAs were declared invalid leading to the loss of Anand who was otherwise expected to win. He alleged that Jai Prakash took away the original pen from the voting enclosure. There was no point of Jai Prakash going there (inside the booth) again (twice)... after two of our MLAs cast their votes, he (Jai Prakash) went there again and changed the pen,” Anand claimed. The Congress leaders and Anand, a well-known lawyer, sought to dismiss talk of “internal sabotage” behind the defeat.
