Competition Commission of India orders probe against GAIL


NEW DELHI: The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has ordered a probe against GAIL for indulging in anti-competitive practices in regard to sale of gas to two private companies. The complained against GAIL was filed by Rico Auto and Omax Autos, both engaged in the business of auto parts manufacturing. Both companies has a contract to buy re-gasified liquefied natural gas from GAIL. Both parties have alleged that conditions such as the buyer is obliged to pay for the quantities of gas not taken but agreed to be taken. The competition regulator has asked its Director General to complete the probe within 60 days.
