Commuters tell of terror after they were trapped on a train with two thugs

Terrified commuters were trapped on a train with two ‘psychotic’ and ‘violent’ men who threatened to take hostages after rail staff locked the doors. Witnesses say the two men clashed with passengers and attacked a guard who tried to intervene. But instead of opening the doors to let frightened passengers off after the train pulled into Lewes at around 7pm last Tuesday, they were locked in for half an hour. They were trapped with them for 30 minutes before the doors were opened with no reassurance or announcement.’Other passengers desperately tweeted the rail company to open the doors. The train then stopped at Lewes Station and the doors stayed closed while awaiting police assistance.
