Commerce Commission warns Alpine Energy over breaches

The Commerce Commission has warned Alpine Energy for its failure to comply with outage limits in 2014 and 2016. (File)South Canterbury lines company Alpine Energy has received a stern warning from the Commerce Commission for breaching outage limits and failing to upgrade its lines. Alpine Energy Chief Executive Andrew Tombs said he appreciated the Commission's findings. The commission backed away from taking Alpine Energy to court, as it considered there were not "systemic problems in the Alpine Energy network", and that one of Alpine's exceedances of its outage limits was small. It also noted Alpine Energy had "significantly improved its SAIDI performance" in 2017 and 2018.
