The Auckland men's and women's softball teams justified their favourites tags with two early wins at the National Fastpitch Championship softball tournament. Black Sox batters were to the fore as the Auckland men slugged 23 runs in their first two games. Black Sox teammates and cousins Kallan Compain and Campbell Enoka and Black Sox B team outfielder Bradley Bennett smashed home runs for Auckland against CMW. Junior Black Sox infielder Kaleb Rona drove in Harbour's first run while Black Sox B team members Callum Bishop and Josh Harbrow had Canterbury's hits.
