Ahmedabad: The BJP has swept the Uttar Pradesh civic polls, raising the stature of chief minister Yogi Adityanath in the party and prompting a chorus led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to congratulate him. When the BJP won the February-March heartland Assembly elections that led to Adityanath becoming chief minister, the victory was credited to Modi's popularity. "Compliments to chief minister Yogi Adityanath and all party workers. Party insiders highlighted how Adityanath had, taking a leaf out of Modi's book, led the campaign from the front, holding 26 rallies. "Although Modi continues to be the BJP's mascot, the civic elections were fought in the chief minister's name," a BJP politician said.
