Children could help protect adults in their homes from Covid-19 infection, a new study has found. The BMJ study noted that some evidence suggests children are less susceptible to infection, as they catch more colds from seasonal coronaviruses each year than adults. The report stated that adults living with children also have more ‘common colds’ than those not living with children. The BMJ study concluded that “close monitoring and evaluation as schools reopen will be crucial to inform ongoing policy”. Sarah Lewis, professor of molecular epidemiology at the Univer sity of Bristol, reacted to the BMJ study, stating: “In this study, adults living with children represented larger households.
