New Delhi: In a first in the history of Indian judiciary, Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, late on Wednesday, appeared before an in-house panel conducting a probe into allegations of sexual harassment levelled levelled him by a former employee. The allegations by a woman, who had worked at Justice Gogoi’s home office in Delhi, date back to October last year. According to reports, Gogoi deposed before the panel comprising Justices S.A. Bobde, Indira Banerjee, and Indu Malhotra and denied all allegations made against him. The panel has decided to carry forth the proceedings ex parte after the complainant on 30 April withdrew her participation from the proceedings. The complainant, in a three-page press release, said she withdrew from the proceedings because she felt she won't get justice from the panel.
