Auckland District Court Judge Robert Ronayne has been remembered as a "terrific" judge and a "fantastic guy". As a judge, Judge Ronayne was firm but fair and was clearly an expert in the cases he presided over at the Auckland District Court, Pilditch said. Dickey spoke highly of Judge Ronayne's work in regards to the sexual violence pilot in the Auckland District Court. My sincere condolences and those of Judge Ronayne's judicial colleagues are extended to his family and friends at this difficult time." To honour Judge Ronayne's memory, the chief judge met judges and staff of Auckland District Court on Wednesday, and led karakia in Judge Ronayne's chambers and elsewhere in the building.
