JOHN COWPLAND/PHOTOSPORT Spark's acquisition of hockey rights is a game changer, in that it takes Spark into local sports production. ​MediaWorks' television business remains moderately loss-making despite being run as a very tight ship and, more importantly, it is very hard to see what could change to bring it into any worthwhile profit. An alternative scenario that has surfaced from time to time might see MediaWorks' television business merged with Sky's Prime, potentially turning two loss-making free-to-air channels into one profitable one.
