Shailesh Chandaria in a 1982 Alfa Romeo Giulietta scored a repeat victory in the Total Quartz Economy Run to capture his fifth victory in the 34th annual series. Vanu Chavda also received a Meritorious Award for taking third place in his first outing as a driver. He stated that the event highlighted the benefits of driving safely and using Total Quartz engine oil to cut the cost of motoring by conserving fuel. Before handing Shailesh Cahndaria and his co-driver Paul Mbuvi with a load of prizes from Total, Oliver Biyogo, the lubricants technical and training manager, praised the Alfa Romeo Owners Club for organising the annual Economy Run. In the past Chavda has been the long time co-driver of Shailesh Chandaria.
