KUALA LUMPUR: A 31-year-old cashier burst into tears when she was fined RM6,000 in default of eight months imprisonment for the unauthorised access of an automated teller machine (ATM) card and withdrawing RM10,000 belonging to a customer earlier this month. Judge Syed Faisal Syed Amir meted out the sentence against Zuraidah Abdullah after she pleaded guilty to the offence at the Sessions Court here today. Zuraidah admitted to have withdrawn RM10,000 from an unauthorised ATM card belonging to housewife Malkeet Kaur at Sports Planet Odeon Walk, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman at 6pm on Oct 1. According to the facts of the case, Zuraidah was manning the cash counter when Malkeet left her ATM card after she had paid for her items. However, instead of returning the card to Malkeet, Zuraidah kept the card for herself and withdrew RM10,000 from the card.
