People who undertake a citizen’s arrest under Canadian law are compelled to inform the suspect that they’re making a citizen’s arrest and intend to turn them into police upon their arrival. Canada’s Citizen’s Arrest and Self-defence Act was an amendment to the Criminal Code that came into force in 2013.
