It described such attacks and brutalities as “unfortunate, unacceptable and disgusting”, and called on the law enforcement agencies to prosecute perpetrators to deter others and to enable the media to work without obstructions and intimidations. “The most dangerous crime in our country today is political crime. People killed, beat, maimed and harmed others in the name of partisan politics and nothing reasonable is done to them”, he observed. Mr. Agbenya indicated that the media remained a major key actor and played essential role in consolidating the country’s democratic gains, and practitioners must therefore be allowed to work in an atmosphere of peace.
