Business leaders say Invercargill has endured the Covid-19 pandemic well and up the road in Gore, Charlotte Chalman, left, and Kelly Morrison have started a new travel agency, Hokonui Travel. It’s been nearly three months since lockdown and, despite some gloomy predictions, Invercargill businesses and retailers are generally reporting solid sales, according to industry insiders. But anecdotally, Carey said she understood businesses, including retail, were reporting good sales since reopening. Among those businesses affected by Covid-19 were travel agencies, due to international borders being closed. Rather than look elsewhere for employment, the two women saw an opening and have started their own business, Hokonui Travel.
