An Iranian oil tanker that collided with a Chinese freight ship on Saturday was in danger of exploding this morning as flames engulfed the vessel, hampering search efforts for its missing crew. On Saturday evening the tanker Sanchi, which was carrying about one million barrels of oil, collided with the freighter in the East China Sea, about 160 nautical miles east of Shanghai. According to Chinese state media the entire crew of the tanker, comprised of 30 Iranians and two Bangladeshis, remain unaccounted for. All 21 crew members from the Chinese vessel were rescued, and it is unclear how much damage the freighter sustained.
