Southwest Airlines has been much in the news lately. But for the stock market, the biggest mover for Southwest was a rumor that Warren Buffett wanted to buy them. (Full disclosure: I own stock in Southwest Airlines and Jet Blue.) In addition to being able to operate profitably in a competitive market, Southwest may have additional advantages when it enters the Hawaiian market. The company operates Southwest Vacations, which is the only source for vacation packages from Southwest Airlines.
