The 19-year-old is due to be sentenced for the offence of 'public nuisance' by a court on the island. “We had 30 friends reporting the tweets naming my daughter to Twitter but they said nothing could be done," her mum said. "I think this particular judge has a real problem in this area and should not be allowed to judge rape cases in future." Barrister Michael Polak, of the Justice Abroad, stressed the case should not discourage women from reporting rape on Cyprus or anywhere else. "Clearly there needs to be a proper system for the investigation and treatment of rape complainants put in place," he added.
