Walt DisneyBeauty and the Beast earned another $2.9 million at the domestic box office yesterday, bringing its domestic cume up to $435.6m in just 26 days. They've got March (Beauty and the Beast), April (The Jungle Book), May (The Avengers), August (Guardians of the Galaxy) and December (Star Wars: The Force Awakens). That means, barring a fluke, the film should be crossing $1 billion worldwide today (or at worst, at around 12:03 am on Friday). Can the $160 million-budgeted romantic fairy tale top the $486m domestic total of Finding Dory? How will its eventual domestic total compare to the adjusted-for-inflation totals of older musicals, be they animated or live-action?
