Councillor Craig Ferguson reminded pub crawl operators that they were not looking to ban the tours, just regulate them better. He said pub crawls "actively promote the consumption of alcohol" and as the tours were outside the Sale and Supply of Liquor Act, regulations bars had to abide by did not apply to pub crawls. In all 18 people spoke in support of pub crawl operators Big Night Out and Kiwi Crawl, two companies that operated legally in Queenstown. It was not the role of police to control these pub crawls, Gill said.
