Thriving in a new system that took advantage of his unique talents, Jefferson became the league’s most dominant and disruptive defensive lineman and on Thursday night he was named the league most outstanding defensive player for the first time in his career. Jefferson beat out Hamilton Tiger-Cats linebacker Simoni Lawrence, who was the league’s leading tackler this season. “Tonight they’ve crowned me the most dominant (defensive) player in the league and I’m happy.”Jefferson does so many things that your typical rush end doesn’t do. Hamilton’s Chris Van Zeyl ended Stanley Bryant’s two-year reign as the CFL’s most outstanding offensive lineman in a 26-24 vote. Jefferson is the second Bombers player in as many years to win the most outstanding defensive player award.
