One of the first instant messaging applications, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), is going to shut down on May 31. On April 18, Emtek, the company that has run BBM since 2016, announced the closure of the consumer version of the app. However, BlackBerry followed up that announcement by offering the enterprise version (BBMe) of the software to consumers.
