Rokeya's husband Juned Mia was out of their apartment when the five-storey building in Al-Salmiyah caught fire on Monday. Kuwait News Agency reported that the firefighters rescued nine from the building, but five of them died at hospital. Bangladeshi expatriates working in Kuwait informed their relatives at Kandigaon village of Kamalganj about the deaths. Zainal Abedin, a resident of Kandigaon village, told bdnews24.com that Juned was out of home during the incident. He also said Juned's mother is the only member of the family living in Bangladesh now.
