Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) have signed the agreement on Friday. State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim and the Frenhc Ambassador to Bangladesh Sophie Aubert were present on the occasion. Bangladesh will need around Tk 30 billion for launching the satellite. The government will provide just over Tk 13.15 billion, while the rest will come as 'project aid' through 'bidders financing'. Bangladesh's first satellite on earth's orbit will have 40 transponders to provide telecommunications and broadcast services.
