He made the comment when visiting Nepalese Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi met him on Sunday, the foreign ministry said. Both Ali and Bairagi stressed comprehensive engagement and further cooperation between the two countries in the areas of connectivity, trade and investment, power sector cooperation, tourism, culture and people-to-people contact. Bairagi appreciated the support of the government of Bangladesh during the earthquake that devastated Nepal in 2015. He briefed the foreign minister about the recent political developments including the upcoming election in Nepal. The foreign secretary also appreciated the role of Bangladesh government in handling the Rohingya situation.
