Border Guard Bangladesh's Teknaf-2 Battalion Commander Lt Col SM Ariful Islam said eight people were rescued after the boat sank at Golarchar point of the river around 10pm. The BGB official said there were at least 40 people on board the boat. "The boat overturned due to a sudden strong wind. At least 30 Rohingyas have gone missing," he said. The Rohingyas are crossing the border in large numbers into Bangladesh since the Myanmar military began a crackdown on insurgents on Aug 25.
