Dhaka also called upon Pyongyang “to exercise restraint and refrain from any further action which may contribute to the escalation of the already heightened security situation in the region and find ways to de-escalate tension.”“This (N-test) is in violation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions nos. 1718, 1874, 2087 and 2094 and the non-proliferation regimes,” read the statement issued on Saturday. “As a state party to the CTBT and the NPT, Bangladesh is committed to nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament and believes that the nuclear test carried out by the DPRK contravenes the interest of peace, stability and security of the region and beyond”.
