Sony Sugar Salim Babu was yesterday named the Fidelity Insurance Coach of the Month for May after guiding the cane millers to the top half of the Sportpesa Premier League during the period. Sony Sugar started the month wallowing in second spot from bottom of the league but finished in position eight after notching three victories and one draw. Babu beat Gor Mahia’s Brazilian import Marcelo Ferreira (Ze Maria) and Tusker’s Paul Nkata to the title after lifting the 2006 champions from relegation zone. In a vote conducted by Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) football commission, Babu garnered 17 points with Ze Maria coming second with 15 and Ugandan Nkata third with eight points. One or two additions could help the team but we’ll work with most of the current squad since we believe in them,” added the coach.
