India has congratulated Tarique Rahman, chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), following the party’s landslide majority in the 13th National Parliamentary Election, with the BNP thanking Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his message. Speaking Friday about Modi’s congratulatory message sent earlier in the morning, BNP Election Management Committee Chairman Nazrul Islam Khan said: “On behalf of our party, we also thank him (Narendra Modi). Polling in Sherpur-3 was suspended due to the death of a candidate, resulting in voting in 299 out of 300 constituencies. Results for 297 constituencies have been announced so far. According to the latest unofficial results, the BNP is on track to secure a decisive majority, with reports indicating that under Tarique Rahman’s leadership, the party has already won more than 200 seats.
