Drone, missile strike kills one in Russia's Rostov: governor

MOSCOW, April 4, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - A drone and missile attack killed one person and seriously wounded four in Russia's southern Rostov region, its governor said Saturday, and a cargo ship was damaged in the Sea of Azov. The drone attack took place in the port city of Taganrog, Rostov regional governor Yuri Slyusar posted on Telegram, adding that the wounded people were in "critical condition". A missile struck a "commercial facility", Slyusar added. Falling drone debris also hit a foreign-flagged cargo vessel in the Sea of Azov, causing a fire, while air defences destroyed drones over Taganrog Bay and other districts, the governor said. The attacks came a day after Russian daytime strikes killed 14 people in Ukraine on Friday.
