GMOs (genetically modified organisms) are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering, or GE. One of the general difference between GMOs and natural organic crops is that GMO plants are able to resist dying when sprayed excessively with powerful pesticides and herbicides. The WHO has classified several GMO pesticides as possibly / probably carcinogenic to human being, because they cause cancer in lab rats.
