Rick Campbell, he of CFL royalty and championship pedigree, has been named the new head coach of the B.C. Campbell, the only head coach in the history of the Ottawa RedBlacks, replaces DeVone Claybrooks, who was fired last month following a 5-13 season in which the Lions failed to make the CFL playoffs. Campbell won his own championship ring as head coach in 2016 when he led the Redblacks to a franchise-first Grey Cup win. Campbell also had coaching staff appointments in Winnipeg and Calgary before landing the head job with the expansion RedBlacks in 2014. “I am both grateful and elated to be coming to Vancouver for this incredible opportunity,” said Campbell, who will also serve as the Lions’ defensive coordinator.
