The Westbank First Nation is going in a new direction after its longtime chief, who backed an effort to build Canada's first private for-profit hospital, was defeated in a hotly contested election. Four people were on the ballot for chief, but one of them, Ron Derrickson, threw his support behind Lindley late in the race. When she is sworn in on Sept. 20, she will become the band's first ever female chief.
