Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. was second with an 18-percent market share on sales of 5,456 units, 13.6 percent down from a year earlier. Year to date, Toyota’s sales of 96,716 units allowed it to retain market leadership with a 42.06-percent share, but these were down 18.3 percent from last year. Ford and Honda took fourth (7.13 percent market share) and fifth (6.72 percent), respectively, with year to date sales of 16,391 (down 28.2 percent) and 15,435 units (down 14.2 percent). BMW importer Asian Carmakers Corp. still reported zero sales in August, along with Coventry Motors Corp. that sells Jaguar and Land Rover cars. Mercedes Benz dealer Auto Nation Group, Inc. sold just 40 units during the month, down 70.6 percent from a year earlier.
