Auckland apartment owners regret buying units in development taken over by a hotel operation


Lei Sun says residents at Edgerley Apartments are unhappy about living amongst serviced apartments but feel their voices are not being heard. A group of Auckland residents are searching for answers after Auckland Council allowed a property developer to turn their Newmarket apartment block into a large scale hotel operation. His said his business, The Edgerley Suites, would be running a serviced apartment operation out of 34 apartments. A serviced apartment is similar to a hotel in that it is available for short-term or long-term stay, and is regularly serviced by cleaners. But he now rented it out because he did not like visiting the apartment and seeing the serviced hotel operation.
