Speaking about the background of the awards, Mr Apichart said his department used to focus only on promoting Otop products. Patcharin Binjaeming, from Narathiwat, received an award for her skills in making products from krajood grass. "We can appreciate the value of Otop products thanks to their creators," Mr Apichart said. The awards recognise people's outstanding work in carrying on local wisdom through their traditional craft work, which is popular with consumers. The artisans were also recognised for their determinations to share their precious skills with others, boost the value of their products and create jobs in their communities.
