KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will raise the plight of the Rohingya ethnic community in Rakhine, Myanmar at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman will highlight the issue while delivering Malaysia’s national statement at the world body’s meeting this Friday (Sept 22). Tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept 20, he is expected to represent Malaysia in signing the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons. The treaty is a legally binding international agreement to comprehensively prohibit nuclear weapons, with the goal of leading towards their total elimination. "Malaysia will also continue to support the central role of the United Nations as the most constructive multilateral platform in the maintenance of international peace and security," said the ministry.
